  We came to Gowlland Harbour for a Bday celebration on Mothers Day weekend and were treated to the best scallops and Risotto known to man. The tenderloin was cooked to perfection and Chef Andrew made our visit even better by creating a special dessert for us! The front of house wait staff were still in training and trying to find their flow (so dinner service was a little bumpy) but the kitchen had it dialled, so it more than made up for the fact.

  Sorry but this is not a posh place by any stretch. We were not pleased with our room during our first stay in June and we advised the Resort accordingly. In response we were given a gift certificate to spend another night including dinner. This was a very generous gesture but the room we were given the second time was not any better. Rooms are too small for king size beds; no chair available to relax on; no phone in room; coffee/tea table no bigger than a good size tray; clothes cupboard had no doors and very small; room door lock was not up to normal hotel standard, etc, etc. Will not be back regardless. On a good note the breakfasts are great and the service along with it.

  We stayed in an interesting room, you walk through the resturant and up the stairs to your room. Small but organized so that you had what you needed in your room. Comfortable bed. We went in the fall so all the maple trees were changiny colours it was fabulous. The actual hour itself is breath taking. The rest of our family rented a very lovely cabin. Next time we visit we will rent a cabin instead of the room.

  My only advice to new comers would be to book a room that is not over top of the kitchen as noise carries late into the night and early in the morning as well. ....And if you are coming for dinner, give yourself plenty of time for a 3 course meal.

  Amazing staff at this resort ensure that your every need is met. The food that the kitchen seems to you is so very good.

  Despite the hype , gowland disappointed with over salted scallops , cold entre dishes that had been sitting in the warmer . Over done duck and fish with cold vegetable and a deep fried croquette that you could have played golf with. As a person who reviews and loves good food , and seeks it out , I have a very open mind. This meal was not worth the three figure bill .. after they had taken off the cost of one entree. Sloppy plating .. out of half the things on the menu including salad. Disappointing on our holiday . Twas to be the highlight
